Tennessee Ensuring Likeness Voice and Image Security (ELVIS) Act

Tennessee enacted the Ensuring Likeness Voice and Image Security (ELVIS) Act, the first state law specifically designed to protect recording artists from AI-generated voice cloning and likeness infringement. The law updated Tennessee's existing Personal Rights Protection Act to explicitly include protections for an individual's voice as a protected attribute, making it illegal to use AI to replicate a person's voice without consent for commercial purposes. It gave individuals and their estates the right to sue for unauthorized AI replication of their voice or likeness.
